What Are The Clue Game Rooms?

There are a lot of rooms in Clue, so remembering them all can be tough. Don’t worry though because I’m here to help. So, what are the Clue game rooms?

The rooms in Clue (2018 version) are the study, dining room, kitchen, hall, ballroom, lounge, library, billiard room, and conservatory.

My Opinion On The Clue Game Rooms

Closeup of a few of the Clue game rooms.
The rooms look great.

Something I find interesting about the new version of Clue is that it took the time to update the characters for the 2018 version of Clue, but it doesn’t feel like the same update was applied to the rooms.

What do I mean?

So, in the old version of Clue, it felt like the characters, the weapons, and the rooms all belonged together. They had that old-timey feel to them as if they’d come from the same time period. Now, it feels like the characters come more from our time period while the rooms themselves remain in the old time period.

Is this a problem? Not if you don’t give it much thought. You could argue that the murdered host, Mr. Boddy, was living in an older mansion that still contained such rooms, but why not update the mansion too to match what many modern-day mansions look like?

For example, maybe there could be a pool, rec room, game room, movie room, extended closet, and so on. There are other versions of Clue, a lot of versions, in fact, including one called Clue: Discover The Secrets. This version did have updated rooms, but I’ve not heard good things about this one. I believe that in some way the 2018 version of Clue was a way for Hasbro to fix their mistakes with Clue: Discover The Secrets.

A Quick Summary Of My Opinion

In short, my thinking is we should either get a fully updated, carefully thought out version of the game, or we should stick with the classic version. Personally, I like the classic time period better but that might be because I grew up with it and I’m a sucker for vintage stuff. There are classic versions available but, unfortunately, the ones I’ve found look a bit off…like they’re trying to be classic with a modern coat of paint, and it just doesn’t work for me.

Basically, just bring back this version, Hasbro.

Did You Know?

(Each time you refresh the page you will get a new “Did You Know” fact!)

Did you know that Ludo is also the name of a game? That’s why Cluedo was renamed in the US! Not as many people knew of the game, Ludo, in the US as they did in the UK, so it was felt they wouldn’t understand why the game was called Cluedo.

Something else that’s cool is that in Brazil Clue was, or maybe still is, called Detetive. And no, that’s not a misspelling either. Really cool!

Conclusion: What Are The Clue Game Rooms?

So, the next time someone asks you what the rooms are in the game, Clue, you will be able to tell them. Not that that will happen often, but you never know when you will need to have mostly useless knowledge at the ready.

With all that said, I’m curious: what rooms do you wish were in Clue? What other fixes or updates do you wish they’d make?
